Happy New Year!

Happy New Year!

As we stand on the precipice of the past and the future, I find that the new year brings with it a renewed sense of optimism and ambition.  After all, what better time to begin anew than the new year? All over the world people are setting goals, challenges, and resolutions for themselves.

"Don't you just love New Year's.  You get to start all over.  Everyone gets a second chance."

Critics might call a bluff and say that most resolutions won't last the duration of the month.  That may well be true, and yet it is okay!  It's okay to try something and realize it's not for you.  It's okay to try again when you have more resources to devote.  It's okay to say,"What was I thinking?"  The point is that you tried something new.  For a moment you saw something in yourself that you wanted to make better.  That alone is an admirable quality in anyone.

My New Year's resolution is to live more for today.  I find that I am always looking forward to something in the future.  I can't wait until summer.  I can't wait for Friday to get here.  I can't wait. Of course I can wait.  Life already passes too quickly to wish any of it to go by even faster.  In the words of Ferris Bueller, "Life moves pretty fast.  If you don't stop to look around once in a while you could miss it."

May 2014 bring you health, happiness, and the chance to look around once in a while.
